SnapCue is a macOS menu bar application that sends the screenshot or selected text you choose to our server and an AI provider for analysis. The service also uses an account to manage access, usage allowances, and optional paid plans.
Content you submit: When you trigger an analysis, your screenshot or selected text is sent through our server to an AI provider. This content may include personal information visible in the material you select. Choose the region or text you want analyzed before sending it.
On your device: Screenshots are held in memory only. They are never written to disk. When you take a new screenshot, the previous one is overwritten. When you quit the app, all screenshot data is gone.
Local records: Answer text is stored on your Mac in History. Account sessions, settings, and usage statistics are also stored locally. You can clear answer history in the app; this does not delete your account, subscription, billing records, or lifetime usage totals.
Account data: Sign-in uses your email address or Google account through Supabase. We store an account profile and the information needed to manage your credit balance and subscription status.
Usage and billing records: Analysis usage is associated with your account to enforce allowances and update credits. Stripe processes optional payments, and account records link the Stripe customer and subscription to your SnapCue account. These records are not anonymous.
AI analysis requests pass through our server to an AI provider. The submitted screenshot or text can itself contain identifying information. Supabase supports authentication and account records; Stripe supports payments and subscription management. Each provider processes the information needed for its part of the service under its own data-handling terms.
All communication between the SnapCue app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. Screenshots are transmitted securely and processed in isolated environments.
SnapCue requires macOS Screen Recording permission to capture screenshots. This permission is used solely for the screenshot capture feature. The app does not record video, audio, or continuous screen activity.
Selected-text capture and Auto-Apply also use macOS Accessibility permission. You can manage these permissions in macOS System Settings.
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
