5 ways to use SnapCue during exam season

SSnapCue Team·April 2026·4 min read

Exam season hits different when you have the right tools. Here's how students have been using SnapCue during midterms and finals.

1. Online quizzes with a timer

Timed quizzes are stressful because every second counts. Alt-tabbing to ChatGPT and pasting questions eats up time you don't have. With SnapCue, you press ⌃⌥A, drag a box around the question, and the answer appears in your menu bar. Your quiz window never loses focus.

2. Practice exams for self-study

Not everything has to be high-stakes. If you're working through a practice set and want to check your answers quickly, SnapCue gives you instant feedback without breaking your flow. Think of it as a study partner that doesn't talk too much.

3. Take-home exams

Take-homes give you more time but the questions are usually harder. Use area select to capture multi-part questions. SnapCue handles complex problems and gives you a confidence score so you know when to dig deeper on your own.

4. Reading comprehension passages

Long passages with questions at the end? Screenshot the questions (not the passage — the AI reads both). It works surprisingly well with humanities and social science content, not just STEM.

5. Quick formula checks

Can't remember if the derivative of sin(x) is cos(x) or -cos(x)? Screenshot the problem. Faster than Googling, and you don't have to leave your exam tab.

One thing we always tell people: the confidence dots matter. Green means the AI is very sure. Yellow means double-check. Red means you should probably work it out yourself. Use them wisely.
