How SnapCue handles 7 different question types
One of the most common questions we get: “Does it work with [specific type of question]?” The short answer is yes, probably.
SnapCue's AI is trained to recognize and solve 7 categories of academic questions. Here's how each one works.
Multiple choice
The classic. SnapCue identifies the question and all options, then returns the best answer as a single letter (A, B, C, or D) with a confidence score. If it's a multi-select question (“choose all that apply”), it returns multiple letters.
True / False
Simple and fast. The answer comes back as “True” or “False” — written out fully to avoid confusion with option letters T and F.
Fill in the blank
SnapCue returns the missing word or phrase. For questions with multiple blanks, answers are separated by a vertical bar ( | ) so you can tell which answer goes where.
Math and calculation
This is where it gets interesting. SnapCue can handle calculus, algebra, statistics, and most undergraduate math. The answer includes the final result and a compact explanation using mathematical notation. For example: “power rule: 3·x² = 3x².”
Short answer
For open-ended questions, SnapCue generates a concise, submission-ready response — usually 2-4 sentences. We specifically tuned the AI to write like a student, not like a textbook. No “Furthermore” or “In conclusion” — just a natural, direct answer.
Sorting / ordering
Questions that ask you to arrange items in order? SnapCue returns the correct sequence. Less common, but fully supported.
Mixed formats
The best part: you don't have to tell SnapCue what type of question you're looking at. It figures it out automatically from the screenshot. One shortcut handles everything.
